Role Purpose
The Group Accountant will play a key role in improving and maintaining the integrity of the group’s financial reporting, including; consolidation of group entities, establishing [and adhering to] financial controls and driving finance process improvement initiatives. This role is central to ensuring accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information across all group entities, supporting statutory reporting and managing audits.
Key Responsibilities
1. Group Reporting
Prepare monthly entity-level and consolidated Management Accounts
Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods, identifying and explaining key movements
Own and coordinate the month-end close process across the group
Ensure consistency of reporting standards
2. Financial Control
Balance Sheet Reconciliation
Maintain balance sheet reconciliation schedules for group entities, ensuring all balances are supported and substantiated
Draft and post journals in line with group accounting policies
Monitor and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis
Accounting Policy & Compliance
Ensure compliance with group accounting policies and relevant financial reporting standards
Identify and escalate areas of accounting policy risk or judgement
Audit Support
Act as a key point of contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audits
Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries and manage audit timetables
Support the resolution of audit findings and implementation of recommendations
Statutory Accounts Support
Support preparation of statutory financial statements for group entities
Liaise with external accountants/auditors on statutory reporting requirements as needed
3. Intercompany
Own intercompany accounting processes across the group
Perform intercompany reconciliations, ensuring balances agree between entities and discrepancies are investigated and resolved
Maintain and apply intercompany recharge methodology consistently across the group
Identify and implement improvements to intercompany recharge and reconciliation processes
4. Finance Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy and control of finance processes, particularly around reporting, reconciliations and recharges
Support the design and implementation of process improvements, including automation where appropriate
Document and maintain process notes/procedures for key areas of responsibility
Candidate Requirements
Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
Experience working in a similar creative, advertising, media, marketing agency or similar environment.
Experience working within a group/multi-entity structure
Experience managing a P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows
Experience managing auditors and supporting audit processes (interim and year-end)
Comfortable consolidating accounts across multiple entities and markets
Experience with consolidation and month-end reporting processes
Paprika experience preferred; strong experience with other consolidation/ERP systems will also be considered
